Where do I start? How can I contract a service?

If you need graphic design services (corporate and brand identity, logo design/redesign, brochures, corporate letterhead, software system development, etc) it would be best to download our guide for requesting a proposal, fill it out, and send it in.

We will send you a brief price quote. Later, if you like the proposal, we will send you the contract along with information on the alternatives you have for making the down payment.

If you require an internet presence, the first thing you should do is evaluate your needs and determine whether you need a custom design service or if our templates fit your demands.

Once a proposal has been accepted, or a template chosen, we will send you the contract and the information on the alternatives you have for making the down payment. You will email us the information that is to be used (logo, product photos, etc). In this stage it is necessary that you prepare a domain name for your website. While we are constructing your site this will be available in our own servers in such a form that only you may access it. That way you can see the site as it is being built. Once the project has been completed to your satisfaction, we will send you the bill for the difference. After payment has been made, and a hosting service contracted, your site will be available to the public.

What is a domain name?

In order for you company to have a presence on the internet, the first thing you need is a place where the public can find it. This is know as a domain name. Your domain name is fixed in place, it will not move even if you do so physically. For example, our domain name www.digitaldreams.com.ar, serves for our offices in Buenos Aires, but also for our offices in Lisbon, Warsaw, and Macao.

Having your own domain name also means having a professional email address rather than that of yahoo or hotmail, which are usually used for non-business purposes. You email address will never change. This means that your clients will always be able to find you, even if you or your business move to the other side of the world.

The domain name should be easy to remember and reflect the company’s name. This is not an easy task being that so many names are already taken. There are many extension possibilities, .com; .net; .biz, etc. If you need help deciding which one best suits your business, contact us and we will be more than happy to help you.

To sum things up, we need for you to register a domain name in order to be able to build your website. You can do this on your own, or we can help you to do it, being that some technical information will be necessary. You can find the cost of registering a domain name in our price list, these are however only estimates since the costs sometimes differ by country. We only charge you the actual costs that we must pay for your domain name, we do not charge for the service.

What kind of bill will I receive?

You will receive an E type bill. This is an argentine exportation invoice, it is free of any internal taxes. With this bill you avoid paying the value added tax (21%).

Website hosting

Once your site is completed, it must be hosted in a server. This way it will be available to the public. There are two option:
1. We transfer your website to the hosting service of your choice. In this case, it is convenient that you put us in contact with the service before we begin construction on the site, that way we can coordinate the technical details.
2. Your site can be hosted by our service provider. There are various plans available depending on your size and transfer rate needs. All the plans include POP3 email accounts and webmail access (similar to hotmail, ideal for when you are away from the office), auto responders, statistical systems, etc. As the traffic to your site begins to grow, it may be necessary to change hosting plans. How do I let people know about my website?

Now your website is ready to present to the world. You should start by adding your url (website address) to all your marketing related goods: business cards, letterhead, invoices, vehicles, advertisements, etc. However, this is not enough. If you want to expand the current reach of your business your site must figure into the most popular search engines and directories (Google, Yahoo, AltaVista, etc). This is not a simple task considering that you are competing against hundreds of thousands of business in your same field.

Beginning with the very design, Digital Dreams has this problem in mind. We prepare and optimize our website for their future search engine submissions. We don’t conduct massive mailings to 5000 search engines at once, this is not only useless, but can also be harmful. Together with the client we analyze his or her particular goals then we manually submit the site to one search engine at a time and in an order that will best suit the client’s objectives.

Website maintenance and updating

Once you have your site up and running, you will surely want to make adjustments, include new material, and periodically send a newsletter to your clients. With a minimum understanding of Dreamweaver® you can perform the maintenance yourself. If your website contains a considerable amount of information, it will surely operate using a database.
